Former NFL Player And Marine Veteran Running For Office Destroys Kaepernick And Sets The Internet On Fire

A Marine veteran who served in Iraq and is now running for a California congressional seat spoke out to blast former NFL player Colin Kaepernick on Monday, going so far as to call him a “national disgrace.”

Fox News reported that veteran Jeremy Staat, who also played in the NFL for four seasons, recently sent out a fundraising email to his supporters in which he said Kaepernick is a “national disgrace and I’m tired of seeing him celebrated like he’s a hero.”

While appearing on “Fox & Friends” on Monday, Staat said  “[Kaepernick] knew what he was getting into when he decided to kneel and now he’s going to go ahead and capitalize” on his decision. The veteran went on to accuse Kaepernick of “essentially extorting the black community and using Nike as his little shiny horse, if you will, to ride in on.”

Staat’s comments came after Kaepernick spoke at the “Indigenous People’s Sunrise Ceremony” also known as “Unthanksgiving,” on Alcatraz Island in San Francisco. The event is intended to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Native Americans occupying the famous island, which previously served as the site of a federal prison. The protest, which began on November 20, 1969, lasted 19 months.

Staat, who is currently running for Congress as a Republican in California’s 8th district, said that he is tired of seeing American veterans be treated like second class citizens in the very country they are risking their lives to protect. He added that instead of spending his time attacking law enforcement like Kaepernick does, he wants to be part of the solution by helping President Donald Trump in Congress.

“If you want to be part of the solution, go out and find ways to make the problem better. Don’t go out and attack individuals who are just doing their jobs,” he said.

Staat added that while he wants to reform the V.A., he is not going to “attack” doctors and nurses at V.A. hospitals.
