Elder Patriot -Opinion, Speculation and Analysis – Whether his critics are willing to admit it or not, President Trump is fighting for the freedom of every U.S. citizen. His well-heeled opponents? Not so much.
Freedom comes at a cost that the president’s detractors aren’t willing to pay, unless there’s a way to profit from that cost – like war. In war, the military-industrial complex profits while taxpayers and young U.S. soldiers pay… dearly.
I see two potential outcomes to our relationship with China if we continue along the road we’re currently on.
- Americans accept the fact that they are now Chinese serfs as we continue morphing into an agricultural colony of the communist Chinese.
The Chinese are currently extracting half-a-trillion dollars annually from the U.S. That averages out to approximately $1,500 for every U.S. citizen.
That money is funding China’s military buildup. A U.S. family of four is paying China $6,000 every year so that their children can one day bow to a Chinese dictator.
- Americans finally wake up to the fact that their politicians have sold out their country and their kids futures after it’s too late to negotiate a more balanced relationship with China.
If communist China refuses to negotiate now, while we still hold the economic hammer over them, then imagine how intransigent they’ll be when they hold both military and economic superiority over us.
If Americans still care about being the land of the free (BIG IF), our children would be forced to engage China militarily, led by communist regime that, frankly, doesn’t care how many lives are lost.
Keep in mind we’ve been here before. In the 1960’s and 70’s it was the Soviet Union. Their huge military buildup led the American left to coin the phrase “Better red than dead.”
After nearly a half-century of indoctrination in the American “educational” system, it seems the president’s opponents are betting we are now ready to live live on our knees?
Or, we confront China now, without the need to shed blood, in a trade war we are positioned to win easily.
President Trump explained that yesterday after a reporter asked him:
“Mr. President, you keep insisting that your trade war with China — the trade war with China is not affecting the U.S. economy. But a lot of economists disagree with that and they worry that if China goes into a recession, they’ll pull us down with it.”
President Trump: Well — well, okay. Let me — let me tell you something. Number one, we’re doing very well as an economy. But somebody had to take China on. You know, I read and I see so much and I read so much, and I’ll see these economists saying, “Oh, give up. Give up on China. Give up.”
“China has been ripping this country off for 25 years — for longer than that. And it’s about time, whether it’s good for our country or bad for our country short term. Long term, it’s imperative that somebody does this because our country cannot continue to pay China $500 billion a year because stupid people are running it.
“So I don’t mind this question.
“Whether it’s good or bad, short term, is irrelevant.
“We have to solve the problem with China because they’re taking out $500 billion a year-plus. And that doesn’t include intellectual property theft and other things. And also, national security.
“So, I am doing this whether it’s good or bad for your — your statement about, “Oh, will we fall into a recession for two months?” Okay? The fact is, somebody had to take China on…
…They were stealing all of our intellectual property ideas. The theft was incredible. They call it “intellectual property theft.” And they value it at $300 billion a year. Who knows how they value it? I know how to value dollars; I don’t know how to value intellectual property theft. But they have experts that say it’s at least $300 billion a year, where they steal it…”
Now let’s set the record straight. There is no argument over the choice between peace and war, but there is only one guaranteed way you can have peace–and you can have it in the next second–surrender. – Ronald Reagan
